Khai Yai

Khao Yai is a national park in Thailand near Khorat. Khao Yai national park was Thailands first national park.

Khao Yai national park is the second largest in Thailand. It covers an area of 2,168 square kilometers, including evergreen forests and grasslands. Its altitude mostly ranges from 400 to 1000 m above . There are 3,000 species of plants, 320 species of birds and 67 species of mammals, including Asiatic black bears, Asian elephants, gaur, tigers, gibbons, deer and wild pigs. Khao Yai national park waterfalls include the 80 metre Heo Narok, and Haeo Suwat made famous from the film The Beach. Namtok Sarika is a popular tourist stop.
As well as taking a day tour to khao yai national park you can also take a night-time "wildlife spotlighting" tour via pick-up trucks in the early evening. Animals sighted at khao Yai national park usually are limited to deer and civet cats, and only rarely include elephants.
Khao Yai also boasts a Wine Region which is at the northern latitude of 14.3, with a clay loam soil. On the western side are the vineyards of PB Valley Winery and GranMonte Winery, at altitudes of 300-350 meters above sea level, while on the extreme eastern boundary is Chateau des Brumes Winery, with vineyards at an elevation of over 500 meters above sea level. The region has morning temperatures of 15-20 degrees celsius during harvest time.
Located close by is Khao Yai Chokchai dairy farm and take a detailed tour of the farm and it's operations. You will get the real feel of the farm life by seeing and learning through experiences such milking cow, making fresh milk ice cream, seeing cowboy live shows, dogs rounding up sheep, dogs showing their skills, feeding animals and many other things. All theses are not just for show but a part of the real life of Farm Chokchai.
